FAQs

Q: Do organic products actually contribute to healthier skin?

Certainly. Petroleum derivatives, fragrances, synthetic preservatives, and colours do not contribute to healthier skin. Instead herbal extracts, plant seed and base oils, floral waters and essential oils found in plant ingredients help your skin. Synthetic ingredients may be able to perform the same basic functions, but do not offer additional therapeutic benefits from the nurturing vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. It is possible to create products without synthetics.

Q: What will happen if I make the switch to organic products?

Moving from a non-organic range to a certified organic one will need a process of assimilation to process any remaining chemicals remaining from your old skincare. Your body will naturally detoxify itself by getting rid of these toxins.

It is recommended that you support your skin during this detoxification by ensuring you drink plenty of water and cleansing, toning and moisturising your face regularly. It may take up to a month for your skin to fully detoxify.

Q: What is the difference between Certified Organic and Organic?

The word “organic” has been overused in our society and a great deal of misrepresentation globally has occurred in relation to the same. A product can be classified “organic” yet can contain all, more or most of the chemicals above. A “certified organic” product on the other hand must adhere to the strict guidelines and regulations governing not only all of the ingredients used in the products, the processes undertaken to produce the product but also the packaging used in the products – there are strict guidelines covering all aspects of delivering an approved certified organic product to market.
In short, organic agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony. Certified organic means the item has been grown according to strict uniform standards that are verified by independent State or private certifying bodies. Certification includes inspections of farm fields and processing facilities, detailed record keeping and periodic testing of soil and water to ensure that growers and handlers are meeting the standards which have been set. Certified organic foods and fibre are spared the application of toxic and persistent insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilisers. In the long run, organic farming techniques provide a safer, more sustainable environment for everyone and more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits of using and consuming certified organic products and foods.

Q: Can I use ECOWELL Organic products with other non-certified organic products?
Yes. But it is not advisable. Non-Certified organic products contain chemicals and more. By using certified organic products, your skin and body will naturally need rid itself of toxins. Adding chemicals at the same time as certified organic products, you will decrease the body’s ability to do so effectively. Ecowell Organic products have been formulated to work synergistically with each other in a layering effect. By mixing certified and non-certified organic products, the results will be adversely affected.

We also recommend you do not use traditional foundation as historically it is full of chemicals and instead use the mineral base foundation that has been formulated so as to allow your skin to continue to breathe. By using certified organic with non-certified organic products you are more likely to develop a skin irritation as your skin tries to detoxify while still having to adapt to the added chemicals. Use either but not both. Choose carefully what you put on your skin as your skin in years to come will be a true reflection of the care given to it.

Q: What makes ECOWELL Organic products different to any other certified organic product?

ECOWELL organic luxurious products are designed to work synergistically in a layering effect to nourish, revitalise and replenish the skin. Crafted by nature itself and coupled with extensive knowledge and work with ICEA and organic farmers, Ecowell organic products contain natural and certified organic ingredients formulated in accordance with ICEA’s strict certification guidelines. From the beginning, the founder has strived to formulate the Ecowell’s luxurious organic range which at all times contains only the highest quality ingredients available – worldwide.

Q: Is it true that all skincare has to contain some form of preservative?

Any “cream based” product needs to contain a preservative to be safe. Ecowell organic products only use preservatives that are approved by ICEA. Ecowell organic products are committed to ensuring only the finest quality ingredients are included in any of its products. ICEA specialises in regulating the ingredients in formulations for skin care and the process from end-to-end. They recommend benzyl alcohol as a preservative as they consider it the most stable and safe preservative for skin care.

Q: Does ECOWELL organic packaging contain Bisphenol and BPA?

NO. Ecowell organic packaging does not contain Bisphenol and BPA. Ecowell organic packaging is made from food grade plastics and is either PP or PET – highly recyclable plastic.

Q: Is it possible to apply many types of product on my face?

Yes. However you do not want to clog your pores, preventing skin from breathing. Organic products are very concentrated and only a small amount is needed. Start with the basics –cleansing, toning and moisturizing – and then add more depending on your skin type, age, skin concerns and sensitivity. An eye treatment product and a mask or serums can be added on once you have a proper daily regime in place.

Q: I just started using ECOWELL organic products, why am I breaking out?

This may happen when transitioning to very pure products. They help activate the skin, encouraging it to function as intended, which may allow suppressed, underlying conditions to surface. Our products allow skin to breathe and detoxify. As the skin returns to a balanced state, the symptoms will subside. However keep in mind it is possible that you may be allergic to an ingredient in the product. People can be allergic to plant-based ingredients, as they can with synthetic ones.

Q: When should I start using ‘anti-aging’ products?

As a general rule it’s good to start using anti-aging products at 30 to help prevent fine lines and wrinkles and even younger if you have dry skin. With organic plant-based skincare, you can use anti-aging skincare at a young age because of the nurturing antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and oils. These ingredients will protect against free radicals and environmental damage. And if your skin is oily or acne-prone make sure the product isn’t too heavy or rich.

Q: How long until I see a noticeable effect on my skin?

It depends on your skin condition, the products used and your lifestyle and diet. A daily regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturizing can produce noticeable effects within several days. We suggest using products for at least one or two weeks to allow skin to acclimate. A healthy diet, exercise and plenty of water will also benefit skin.

Q: What should a proper skin care routine look like?

Your skin care routine must support and enhance your skin’s natural functions by naturally encouraging it to balance and heal itself. Most organic products use beneficial plant ingredients that directly address the underlying conditions and not just the symptoms.

Daytime: Minimally you should surface and optimally deep cleanse the skin, use a toner and finish with a moisturiser. To get more from your skin and a bigger “glow” use a serum and eye cream before you moisturise.

Evening: Begin by surface cleansing to remove the day’s dirt and makeup, then follow with a facial toner to give the skin extra hydration. Next you can add a serum or moisturiser and an eye cream if desired. However some companies believe the skin needs to properly breathe at night to benefit from its natural regeneration process. So if you follow that philosophy after toning you’d only finish with a very light serum and eye cream. The preference is yours.

Weekly: A facial mask can benefit your skin as needed, but as a general rule use only once a week. We recommend using a mask at night when you have more time to relax and can give your skin a break from makeup. After cleansing apply a mask, leave mask on approximately 10-15 minutes, rinse with warm water and apply a facial toner and/or night conditioning product.

Q: What do you recommend for fighting/treating acne?

Begin with a gentle cleanser and avoid harsh scrubs. Gel or foaming cleaners would be the best. Follow with a soothing, non-astringent toner that heals with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial plant ingredients. You will still need to add moisture to your skin. Choose a light lotion or serum that won’t block pores. A weekly refining mask will help absorb toxins and purify skin.

Q: What do you recommend for wrinkles and fine lines?
Try a richer, creamier face wash followed by a hydrating toner and then choose a moisturiser with anti-aging plant ingredients full of antioxidant-rich seed oils and other nurturing ingredients. An eye cream ought to be used daily to diminish wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. Also treat skin with a firming or exfoliating mask and it would be best to wear sunscreen when going outdoors.
